About Us
Kitchawan Farm is a small family farm located in the lower Hudson Valley in Westchester County NY, less than 25 miles North of NYC. This area of Yorktown was originally inhabited by the Kitchawanc tribe of the Wappinger Confederacy of the Algonquin Nation.
The land here was cultivated for farming starting in the 1700's and the Van Brunt family have been stewards of it for over 115 years. We've been growing food plants for pollinators and for humans here for decades, using organic and regenerative growing practices.
Six acres of our land is now hosting a solar array providing 2.2 Megawatts DC of renewable energy to the community. The 4,814 solar panels provide enough electricity to power around 240 homes in our area.
